We all tend to get a little egoic at times and feel sorry for ourselves, no matter how spiritual and self aware we are. I am just as guilty of that as the next and although I have admittedly seen a hard last year, I truly have so much to be grateful for. I’ve tried to keep track of it all but I don’t think I’ve really thanked all the people that were there for me in one way or another. So this is a very special gratitude list today and will just be the people that I am grateful for at this moment in time that have one way or another contributed something very valuable to my life in the last year, mostly love, in a way that reminds me that I’m NEVER alone. Ever. Even in fleeting moments, I have gained so much in the way of love, perspective, strength, and most importantly a feeling of importance and a reason to get up in the morning!
These people have been there for me in so many ways. They laughed with me, cried with me, held me close, gave me food, gave me shelter, taught me lessons about life and myself, gave me perspective and contrast even in the most difficult moments, freed me from attachments, listened to and forgave me for my darkest confessions. They’ve embraced who I was, but most importantly, who I am NOW. They’ve planned with me and helped me to dream. In some cases they simply let me go so I could try to fly on my own. They are far more important than any of the THINGS that I could be grateful for in life. Some are my family, some are my friends, teachers, the ones that make up my forbidden sanctuary, my partners in business and creativity and so much more. So in no order in particular… here it is and to make sure it was completely fair and no one would feel more or less important than anyone else, I’ve used this randomizer for the list.

If there’s anyone I left out, I’m sorry. This is 200 people. I have been so fortunate to have been given love, support, laughter, lessons, strength, ideas, praise, acknowledgement, recognition, guidance, conversation, perspective, inspiration, and so much more from the people on this list and can you believe, in just the last year or so, I’ve had the honor of actually being in the presence of 92% of this list? That’s a lot of people and I’m so so so so grateful for every soul that has shared space with mine. And now all I can really say is:
I know it’s apparent by now that I love making lists. I really do. I learned it during all of my Law of Attraction journaling and THEN I signed up for this professional blogger newsletter that said people love lists. They really do! Apparently, they’re one of the most popular things read on the internet. I blame this on those silly slide shows. You know the ones. ’15 of the DEADLIEST soft drinks in the world’ or ’20 Ways to find out if your lover is cheating on you and you should stab them in the face’ or …. 100 Things I’m Grateful For
Today’s list is 101 reasons I want to quit smoking AGAIN so I can remind myself and my readers can hold me accountable as well. This will hopefully be the last time I quit. Some of them might not make sense to you, but they do to me and that’s all that matters. Maybe someone else will also identify some reasons to quit smoking for themselves.
Longer life span.
I want more babies.
Keeping a promise to my kids.
Not poisoning anyone with secondhand smoke.
I don’t want to be the first one in my family to get cancer.
Hiking to Machu Picchu
Puma Punka
More stamina.
Barking in windows.
Lower my carbon footprint.
I’ll smell like my perfume instead of perfume and smoke.
Skydiving.
International flights without nic fits.
I won’t have to stand really far from my non smoking friends anymore or walk behind them.
More money for pedicures.
Keeping my youthful skin
Kissable breath.
I’ll be able to really taste food completely.
Less coughing.
More running and jogging.
More swimming.
More bicycling.
More hiking.
I won’t have to worry about people stealing my lighter anymore.
Not having to stand in the rain when there’s no one to kiss.
One less item in my already crowded purse.
No more standing in the freezing cold first thing in the morning or late at night.
Managing stress and anxiety by breathing oxygen instead of smoke.
Non smoking rooms in hotels really are cleaner.
Listening to an entire seminar without having to walk out in the middle of it.
Road trips without frequent stops.
Staying on the dance floor longer.
Phuket
It would be impossible to smoke a whole cigarette during Songkran.
Hot ash in the eye hurts like a bitch.
Smoke in the eye hurts almost as much as hot ash in the eye.
Unlike what the media taught me, non-smokers are sexier.
Keeping more of my money out of the hands of big corporations.
My teeth will stay whiter.
I’m almost 35 and that’s a good age to be giving up rebellious habits.
Smoking does not serve me spiritually or emotionally.
I will be lessening the suffering in the world.
I can visit any city, even if it has a smoking ban.
Less chance I’ll be responsible for a forest fire.
I don’t have to worry about people bumping into a lit smoke in a crowded place and burning them.
Cigarette burns on clothes suck.
More options in places I can live.
I can really have a full blown ‘bed day’ and just not get out of bed all day long.
Don’t have to worry about accidentally setting my hair on fire.
Approximately 100 extra minutes a day of productivity or relaxation or laughs or love or meditation…
I can always have minty or fruity breath!
I won’t offend people at spiritual events.
Quitting smoking is a practice in self discipline.
This is a process of letting go, strengthening my unattachment to egoic things.
I’m paving the way and setting an example for others.
Smoking in a Prius just isn’t cool.
I want to sing.
You can’t hide out in a bunker after the apocalypse and be a smoker.
Less stress and tension from the nic fits.
20 years is long enough to have a bad habit.
My spirit is stronger than my addiction.
My body is a temple for my soul and my soul deserves a clean temple.
There’s nowhere to buy cigarettes when you’re in the middle of the ocean.
Quitting manifests more freedom into my existence.
You can’t smoke with a scuba mask on.
There’s no smoking in space and I will get on a space yacht one day!
I want my lips to stay plump and lush instead of getting wrinkles around them earlier than necessary.
Bigfoot would be able to smell the cigarette smoke from quite a distance and never make himself known to me
Simply by quitting, I’m increasing my chances of survival in the zombie apocalypse.
None of the really cool people smoke…
I won’t be antsy the last half of the movies at a theater.
I won’t have to deal with little tobacco flakes at the bottom of my purse.
No more ashes on the dashboard.
I will no longer inadvertently be responsible for my butts ending up in the ocean or in birds’ bellies.
One less form of tax I’m giving to our defunct government.
Less trips to the store and less time spent in liquor stores in general.
I won’t accidentally hand one to a minor.
I won’t be contributing to an industry with a very shady past anymore.
I want to be sexy in every way and smelling like a cigarette in any way at all isn’t going to help that.
I don’t want to have a stroke.
I don’t want a third ticket for a cigarette that went out the car window in front of cop.
I’d like to keep change in my car’s ashtray so it’s always there for me to give to the panhandlers on the side of the freeway.
I can pay at the pump and not worry about having to go into the cashier when I buy gas.
I will be conquering a huge habit that I never should have had and has been the most challenging for me.
I’ll make myself proud.
I won’t be that old lady that accidentally burns her house down when she falls asleep with one in her hand or mouth.
I’m lowering my chances of getting crapped on by a bird or attacked by a squirrel.
I can sit inside of coffee shops instead of always outside, no matter the weather.
If I can quit smoking, I can do anything!
I never have to worry about someone’s pet inadvertently eating one of my cigarette butts.
I won’t accidentally contaminate paranormal photos on ghost hunts.
I’ve seen mouth cancer and it’s probably one of the grossest forms of cancer. Quitting makes my chances of getting mouth cancer lower.
It will probably be the first thing my fundamental Jehovah’s Witness grandmother will be proud of me for.
I don’t have to listen to people fake cough anymore, tell me how bad smoking is for me, sigh, see them roll their eyes or any other displays of disapproval from random strangers.
I won’t be financially obligated to buying extra cigarettes because inevitably someone will ‘bum one’ or try to buy one off of you.
You can’t smoke when you’re volunteering time at an orphanage, which is on my list.
I won’t have to pull over and put the fire in the backseat out in my car ever again.
I would be able to hang out with some of my friends for longer periods of time that don’t have a tolerance for cigarette smoke.
Smoking is NOT fancy.
Don’t ever have to worry about pissing off the neighbors with drifting smoke again.
I’ve seen older people with yellow fingers from the smoke and I don’t ever want yellow fingers.
I must admit, however, I feel like my cigarettes are singing this to me right now (which is kinda true but actually just an excuse to slip this song in here because it’s amazing):
I’ve decided to post this blog entry in script format. For the part of ‘Me’, I have cast a somewhat cute, slightly frumpy tomboy with a huge personality and a big mouth. She has a lot of fears and vulnerabilities and is not even close to perfect. She has been hiding behind ego and mundane first world problems that make the wise ones shake their heads in pity.
For the part of ‘Higher Self’ I would like to introduce you to an adorable little faerie like girl with big pink pigtails and sparkly eyeshadow wearing black and white striped tights, a hot pink tutu with lots of sparkly jewels and a black tanktop with gray alien head on the front of it. Her personality is fun and adventurous and she is full of wisdom, truth, laughter and is connected to the oneness of everything. She also gives REALLY good hugs!
The part of ‘The Universe’ will be played by an old man, about 60 years old, with long white dredlocks. He’s usually barefoot and wearing a tie dyed shirt. He is in everything and in everyone and in this particular script, he smokes a lot of pot and makes a lot of jokes, but at the end of the day it simply teaches a lesson and gives us something to laugh about later. The Universe knows EVERYTHING and I really mean that. There’s not a single question in all of time and space that The Universe cannot answer if you’re willing to listen, even when The Universe speaks in riddles or simply throws out hints and makes you guess. The Universe is perfect love, perfect knowledge and all things good. He also gives really good hugs!
So this is the conversation I’ve been having the past long while. Other characters may enter the script. I may or may not go into detail. Just enjoy reading and I hope you’ve got a sense of humor for this one.
The Universe:
Hey, what are you doing?
Me:
I’m not really sure, do you know?
The Universe:
It looks like you’re making a mess of everything, to me.
Me:
I’m not really trying to do that at all. I just don’t know what I’m doing and I feel like I’m totally on my own.
The Universe:
Oh come on, you should know by now you’re never really on your own!
Me:
Who are you anyway? I don’t think we’ve met.
The Universe:
Heh! No, we’ve never really been formally introduced before, but you know me. You might not remember me right now, but you will pretty soon.
Me:
I don’t even know what that means.
The Universe:
Yes you do.
Me:
No, I really don’t.
The Universe:
Ok, well let’s play a little game to see if I can refresh your memory.
Me:
Ummm, ok, what’s the game?
The Universe:
It starts with a question. If I could grant you one wish, what would it be?
Me:
Hmm. I guess I would say the total love, affection and attention of at least one person. That’s what I want.
The Universe:
Is that why you’ve been making such a mess of everything? Is this all just so you can get attention?
Me:
Maybe, I guess. I’m not sure if I’m doing it for attention or if the lack of attention makes me want to act out when no one is looking.
The Universe:
I already know which answer it is. You just have to figure it out yourself.
Me:
If you already know the answer, why are you asking me?
The Universe:
Because you have to know the answer for yourself.
Me:
If you’re so smart, why don’t you just tell me?
The Universe:
I just told you why. Now, back to that wish. The total love, affection and attention of at least one person in the world?
Me:
Yeah.
The Universe:
Are you sure?
Me:
Yes!
The Universe:
LOLZ! Ok, your wish is granted!
Me:
DID YOU JUST MAKE ME PREGNANT?! I’M 15 YEARS OLD, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!
The Universe:
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Back that paternity claim up sister! I didn’t make you pregnant, that ‘knight in shining armor’ of yours did! You know, the goofy one with the long blonde hair? What is he, a hippie or some shit?
Me:
You totally made this happen! How could you do this to me?! I’m 15! I’ll be a 16 year old mom and high school drop out!
The Universe:
That baby is going to be amazing and as long as you start making more conscious wishes like that, you’ll keep getting them, so just remember that you will get through school and you will go to college and it will be just fine!
Me:
But how can I be a mom? I don’t know anything about raising kids. I’m so afraid I’m going to harm him or screw him up! I’m so young!
The Universe:
Just remember all the dumb crap your parents did and do the opposite. Love that baby as much as it loves you and it will be fine. Give him what he needs and use your heart, not your temper and every time you’re frustrated with him, just give him a hug and a kiss. You’ll mess up once in awhile, all parents do, but as long as you consciously try, he will always know that you loved him and those little mistakes will be forgiven.
Me:
You’re giving me a boy? Don’t you know how horrible my relationship is with the male species?
The Universe:
That’s why I’m giving you a son. Now your heart will have to soften towards the male species because you’ll be raising one. This will give you a reason to re-examine your current beliefs about the opposite sex because he has to know that he’s not bad just for being male, even if that’s how you were taught.
Me:
I’m so scared.
The Universe:
Thank you for being honest. Now pull up those boot straps and get going. You’ve got a long road ahead but I promise there’s lots of exciting things along the way and huge prizes at the end.
Me:
Prizes? Like what?
The Universe:
Like success, happiness, abundance and your twin flame.
Me:
My twin what?!
The Universe:
Be patient. You’ll see.
Higher Self:
*giggles*
Me:
Who are YOU?
Higher Self:
You.
Me:
I’m me, yes, but who are you.
Higher Self:
I am you. The real you.
Me:
What?!
The Universe:
Haha! Slow down there, you’re confusing the young girl. She’s been through a lot already, let’s give her a rest.
Me:
What’s going on?! I’m so confused!
Higher Self:
You’re just waking up.
Me:
But…
The Universe:
I think that’s enough for now, Nikki. I think we’ve given you plenty to chew for the moment.
When was the last time you really laughed? I mean laughed so hard you almost peed your pants, bent over, uncontrollable, knee slapping laughter. Like that one time at that party when your friend did that one thing? Laughter is so important in life! It’s the best medicine, the glue between friends, the break in tears and a tune up for the soul! It’s a natural stress reliever, it’s contagious, it’s good for your heart and lungs and it’s a very important part of spiritual healing and growth.
My daughter says I have ‘mommy magic’. This is the ability I have to always put love in food and make her laugh, even when she’s crying or angry. It’s really simple for me to use. I say two magic words … “Don’t laugh!” … and then with a quick wave of my finger in front of her face, no matter what might seem wrong in her life at that moment, she magically laughs! We do this almost daily, especially when it comes time to brush her almost 3 foot long hair! It works when she’s angry at a friend. It works when it’s time to clean her room or one of her toys break. It always works!
She might think it’s magic, but the real truth is that our soul wants us to be happy, as happy as can be. We’ve been blessed with a wide range of emotions that provide us with much contrast and clarity in life. Too many use the default emotion of fear as their life’s motivator. Fear, an already uncomfortable and negative emotion, then creates anxiety, depression, anger, insecurity and other negative emotions that then typically lead to bad habits for our lives. That can include addiction, compulsion, apathy and generally causes you to bring your life to a crawl at best if not a standstill or a total reverse of progress. Once you’ve become aware enough to admit to yourself honestly that fear has been your life’s motivation, you have a choice to continue that pattern or to change it.
Many people do have those moments of clarity and choose to make happiness their motivating factor and that’s where laughter comes in. What better tool is there to lift your soul at lightning speed to a higher frequency vibration, setting you up to attract and recognize more happiness and more to laugh about. No matter what excuse you’ve been using as an excuse to keep you from happiness … finances, relationship status, age, etc. … keep in mind that laughter is free! It costs nothing. It doesn’t require a long term commitment but if you choose to keep it around, it will never do you wrong. As soon as you figure out how to laugh as a baby, you never forget, no matter how much of your memory you lose over the years.
Have a good laugh today! This one’s on me. :) Here are a couple of videos that might help along the way.
This first one I was introduced to by Mike and Ramona who run the Burbank Law of Attraction Group and I thank them for that!
And of course we have to have at least one good prank, right?
I saw this video in the Tony Robbins screening room and it was something I felt compelled to share. We ARE all powerful beyond measure. We choose to be small because that is simply easier. So many of us have negative thoughts embedded in us about success and wealth and what that really means. In studying the subject myself, I’ve found that many people choose a life of mediocrity because it means less responsibility they have to take on, they see wealthy people as greedy, power as corruption and so forth. Some of us just don’t feel like we are the type of person that can or deserves to have that kind of success.
That is not the case in every situation, however, and we fail to realize that. With wealth comes the ability to help others and support noble causes. With power comes the ability to create positive change in your life, in your community and even the world. Choosing to be powerful, claiming the power that we all have within us, allows you to be a positive person if that’s what you choose. We all deserve to be that person and there is more than enough abundance in the world for everyone to have the wealth and power we desire. We all make mistakes but even people that society had written off have turned it around and used their mistakes to change the lives of others for the better. Hardened criminals have spent decades in prison to come out and mentor kids away from that lifestyle. Hackers and criminals that have ruined lives and businesses have turned their experiences and knowledge into ways to protect others and stop people from succeeding in the crimes they have in the past.
Everyone deserves it. It’s something that I’ve had to accept in my own life. Something I’ve had to think about with myself. No one is perfect and I am far from it, but I don’t have to be perfect to make a difference. I am always doing better than someone else. That is a fact. No matter what my mistakes were, I’ve always been stronger than someone, I’ve always had more than others and I’ve always been able to learn something. It doesn’t mean that I’m proud of my mistakes or that I would necessarily do them over again, but what it does mean is that I believe I have an ability to turn every situation into a positive situation, no matter what. It’s a choice.
Claim your power, your purpose and your meaning. Claim yourself. The person that deep down inside you are meant to be. What is it? Who is it? What is your purpose? How can you change other people’s lives? How can you be an inspiration or a conduit of change for one person or the entire world? Stand up and be powerful because you truly are powerful beyond measure. We all are. The universe hasn’t worked for billions of years to create everything we can see just in the visible universe, every bit of this planet teeming with life, from the highest peaks of the mountains to the cracks in the deepest depths of the ocean, to your creation and survival today. All of this didn’t happen for you to simply waste your life. What can you do to make a difference today? Just one thing in your own life, no matter how small it is? How about something minor you can do for someone else? Sometimes, all it takes for you to make a difference for yourself or someone else is a little bit of gratitude and a smile. It’s that simple, but you power beyond measure to do even more than that, but it’s all up to you.
Please check this out and help if you can, even if it just means reposting the video so that it reaches the right people that can help the project to move forward. You can visit the project’s website for more information and information on donating. Thank you in advance to all those that participate and help. And thank you to all of those that already have, including the leaders being featured in the project itself.
We all have profound moments in our life, things that just strike us and teach us something so deep about ourselves or life that they can’t be ignored. I’ve had 4 of those in just a matter of days and it’s led to a lack of sleep and some really deep thoughts, but I’m so grateful for them.
We have a habit of getting so lost in ‘reality’ that we sometimes lose site of our dreams. You can see it everyday in people that are stressed out and swallowing handfuls of pills for any number of stress related illness or dis-ease. I am still guilty of this to a sense. I still have a bottle of Ativan in my purse from 6 months ago with just a couple left JUST IN CASE. I need to let go of that and just face life head on and you should to. But that was a rabbit trail there.
I watched a two and a half hour documentary of compiled footage from the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami that affected much of South East Asia. It’s also officially the largest scale disaster that has happened in recent history but arguably has had the largest impact on the world primarily because there was so much footage and documentation of it. Over 300,000 lives were lost that day in several countries, however, the stories that we’re left with of survival and second chance are the ones that were probably meant to be taken from that if the Universe had anything to say.
One particular image that really had an effect on me that I saw from that day was an old gentleman in his 70′s who was swept up by the waves, 13 feet in the air and he was clinging to a banister of a hotel balcony while all sorts of debris floated past him, pummeling him while he tried to hang in there. He fought for his life, in spite of the fear, the pain and everything that came with that and he survived. The waters swept him in, he held his ground, they tried to pull him back out and he didn’t budge and he survived. He easily could have reasoned that it wasn’t worth the fight and he was at the end of his life anyway, but he didn’t give up. What amazed me is that he still goes back to the island again and again. Why? Because just because a once in a lifetime experience knocked him off his feet, he still knew there was beauty and experience and knowledge to be gained and a reclaiming of something that once was and is now arguably better than it was before.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m by no means saying the tsunami was necessarily a good thing and that the lives lost weren’t a tragedy, but I’m saying that in spite of it all, life goes on and there is always something good and positive to take out of any situation, no matter how negative it appears at first and no matter how much it hurts you and pushes you towards your own death be it cancer, or a heartbreak, the loss of a child or any other massive blow to your existence that shakes you to your core… it all has a purpose and it’s your job to find it! It’s your job to figure out what can be done to turn this into something positive. Think of the foundations, laws and new protections we have because of the loss of a child’s life (America’s Most Wanted, Megan’s Law, etc.). That child did not live nor die in vain even if it seems they were taken far too soon, their life left a legacy and a purpose.
There were other profound moments too, however, I’m not trying to write a novel (don’t worry, it will come eventually) so just let me share with you some points that I have learned, and I mean profoundly touched and changed my perspective on everything, just in the past few days:
Color is it’s own reward – color is a reward. The colors of life, the colors of love, the colors of the universe. Just the ability to be alive and experience them and have the opportunity to appreciate a thing of beauty in and of itself is a miracle. Treasure every moment.
1% of your existence is form – the other 99% lives on a plane most of us don’t understand. If we would stop focusing so much on the form, our physical presence, and realize our metaphysical and spiritual presence, we can thrive! There’s so much for us to create, so much for us to allow, so much for us to observe, why waste a single moment distracted from all of that possibility by focusing on our physical existence only?
Love is ALWAYS the answer – again, no matter what your situation is, love is always the answer. Always. Just today I explained it using a couple as an example. Let’s say they’re at a crossroads and don’t know what to do. The way I see it is that there are only 2 options. Admit to themselves and each other that they have not been serving each other as should be done in a relationship and then take the steps needed to love that person (as a verb, not just an emotion) and yet on the other hand if they can admit that they just cannot serve each other, even if it’s just one of the individuals, they have to be able to love that person enough to let them go and wish them their happiness instead of keeping them in a miserable place because it’s simply comfortable.
Don’t expect, instead accept – People will almost never live up to your expectations, whether your expectations are good or bad. It rarely happens in life. Time and again people I didn’t trust ended up being my best allies and people I trusted ended up hurting me more than I care to revisit. Instead of expecting anything out of anyone, just accept them for who they are and allow them to be who they wish to be as opposed to who you wish them to be. By doing this, not only do you alleviate them from the obligation to live up to your standards, whether they realize it or not, you are also allowing yourself to take in some learning and observation that might teach you something quite valuable that you wouldn’t have seen before.
Honesty is not always the best policy and silence is golden – this goes back to choosing love. Sometimes, our thoughts or feelings or even our past experiences are better left unsaid. It’s not necessarily always the most loving thing to share information that we know will only hurt someone and serves no purpose to them. Why would you point out a birthmark on someone when they already know it exists and probably aren’t proud of it? Why instill more insecurity and disapproval into them. The loving thing to do is to leave it alone and put it away and instead show them true love by allowing them to be comfortable in your presence without judgement. At the same time, sharing past experiences from former partners, for instance, doesn’t always serve the receiver of that information. I’ve always been one that wants to be in on all the gory details but I realize now that sometimes, those details will only hurt me or others and there’s a reason certain things are none of my business. After all, as the saying goes, it’s better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and prove it.
You have to die at least once in your life – I don’t mean the physical death where you move onto the spiritual dimension, but truly, a devastating blow that makes you feel like you’ve died inside. Facing our fears and succumbing to them once in awhile. Donald Trump and many others that are easy to admire have said there is no truly no success without failure and I’m seeing now how that is true! There is risk in everything in life. Just breathing the air around you puts you at risk of illness, but you can’t stop breathing! And you might think you’ve been successful living your life playing it safe, but then you’ve never really risked that amazing jump out of a plane either. Experiencing a set back in life should not be the end of your life. It should be the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one. A new chapter that now has lessons and inspiration behind it to create any dream you desire and something even better than what you would have had before if you had never let go in the first place and surrendered to that moment. It kind of goes against what I said earlier about fighting on the surface, but when you really think about it, it’s the acceptance of that moment where you ‘die’ and become something new. Dig deeper inside.
There’s always something to be grateful for – until you take your last breath of this physical form, there is absolutely no reason to choose to be anything but grateful, even if it’s just the gratitude of opportunity and chance. The opportunity and chance that you will/can turn it all around. Until that last breath is out of you, there is beauty around you, contrast, something to learn, something to experience and all of that is enough to be grateful for! Even on your deathbed, don’t face that with death, be grateful for the time you had here and grateful for the next phase of existence. Even in the most difficult, challenging or painful situations, there is plenty to be grateful for and unfortunately too many of us fail to see that and I waited far too long to realize it. The more things you appreciate and are joyful about, the more that expands in your life. What you focus on is what you get. You are what you think all day long as a wise man once said and so focus on the good things so you can have those good things and much more of them.
Variety is the spice of life – we didn’t come into this world to do the same things day after day after day. We came into this world with countless trillions of opportunities to experience something and yes that number is correct! We have the opportunity to experience trillions of different things. That was really hard for me to wrap my mind around at first but I get it now. We have to step out of our comfort zones once in awhile to try something that will add to our experience in life. If you don’t try anything new and break the ruts in your life, how will you ever find anything that is better than what you already have and no matter how good you have it, it can always be better. Don’t get stuck in something comfortable. Challenge yourself and if you fail, refer back to Donald Trump.
Keep your focus forward – there’s no use for rear view mirrors and I know I’ve talked about this in other blog postings. It’s not just about not looking back, but looking forward, as in the future and it’s progression in a positive way. There’s no reason to look backwards on life’s hard times or hurts. There’s no reason to veer off in a negative direction dwelling on negative ‘what if’ thoughts. If the what ifs are going to happen, they’re going to happen, but by having a clear focus on exactly what you want that will make you happy and give you the life that you truly desire, you’re only expanding your chances of succeeding and will find yourself feeling generally more upbeat, positive and happy. You’ll find more happy moments instead of sad moments. You’ll find more strength rather than weaknesses and you’ll begin to truly appreciate the things you already have. More importantly, you’ll start to recognize and realize the situations and people in your life that were well placed by the universe to guide you in the right direction. There’s so much out there to be had. Take it!
You are perfect right now – and you will be in every other moment of your existence. This is meant to be taken in several ways. First of all, in regards to your physical form, again, it only represents 1% of your existence. So much weight is placed on physical appearance when it is such a minor aspect of our existence and from my perspective, the amount of money and time wasted on appearances is a waste when that money can be better spent on other experiences that will serve us much more. That being said, getting fit and staying fit has it’s place in life. Of course you will have an easier time climbing that mountain or sky diving or any other goals one might have, let alone a longer life expectancy, if you are healthy, but is there really a need for a spray tan? I don’t mean to judge because I have my faults too, but I do sincerely believe that people are chasing the wrong sense of fulfillment. The average cost of a spray tan in my neighborhood according to Yelp is $20. That’s $20 spent on something that will be gone and really served little purpose in your life as opposed to 4 or 5 cups of coffee or 10 cups of tea over great conversation with someone stimulating. Which has the greater pay off in the end. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I’ve come to learn that the right people will love me for the 99% of my existence that feeds their soul as opposed to the 1% that feeds their eyes. I am a beautiful person, even at my size, but there’s no reason for me to trifle over such petty things when I was born perfect and remain perfect at all times in my existence and you are too! As far as our personal and spiritual existence being perfect, you are always just in the right mindset you need to be to take you to the next step/level of your existence and awareness. It’s up to you when you choose to make the move, but right now you have so may choices in front of you, just as I do and each of them will serve a purpose for you, but always choose the one that will serve the HIGHEST possible purpose and greatest satisfaction in the end.
Transitions can be painful but are always worth it in the end – just like childbirth, life has transition points which normally are the most painful for us in our life, but there is great reward on the other side. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve held hands with someone during a difficult period of their life only to see a bigger smile on their face than ever before just months later if not weeks later. Whether it’s a financial, romantic, career or any other transition, even a seemingly negative outcome can give us the inspiration we need to make the next transition into something better than we had before and most of the time, the outcome is just plain positive.
That which doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger – I remember hearing this and making it my mantra even in my teen years which were arguably the most difficult in my life. I believe it is because of these words that I’m still alive today and have made it as far as I have in my life. That being said, it still applies and it applies to every aspect of our life, once again, because if it doesn’t kill you, even if it weakens your physical existence, surviving those challenges only makes us stronger in our mind, our hearts and personal resolve.
Nothing is permanent – there’s not much to say about this other than appreciate it while it lasts and let everyone and everything around you know how much you love it and are grateful for it. You never know when it will be the last time.
Of course there’s more, but I think I’ve made a clear point here. Sadly, some will never understand any of this and will choose a miserable existence at best, however, for those who are aware and wish to break free from the human bounds these will find their way into your heart too. Most of these things I’ve heard before but they just never really hit home until these past few crazy days. I hope you can take something from this.
I’ve been putting a lot of time and thought into the different things I want to accomplish in my life lately and there are actually a LOT of things I’d like to do and a lot of differences I’d like to make. I think everyone is receptive to different approaches and ideas, but the goal should be the same no matter what. At the end of the day, we all want to be able to look back at our lives and know that we were successful with our goals and had a happy life, whether that’s in a position as CEO of our own company or a stay at home mom who raised happy and productive children and had a gratifying marriage or anything else for that matter.
Unfortunately, so many of us don’t have the proper role models and we end up going about things all wrong, not realizing we were fighting for the wrong things or going about things the wrong way until it’s to late and if its not too too late, we’ve already wasted a lot of time. I do think that in most cases we can turn it around. I also believe we need to have better role models. I firmly believe the media and the ‘teachers’ in our lives have a lot to do with this. Now that we’re adults though, it’s time to make choices for ourselves and find our own role models.
Over the past couple of years I’ve started to re-evaluate the role models I had and who had taught me by example and just what they had taught me. Then I started my search for the answers and I still don’t have them all but I’m trying damn hard. For myself and other women, I would like to start a series of calls to help women become empowered. Sure, maybe I am a bit of a feminist but I’m not a man hating feminist. I just want to see more women happy and satisfied in their lives so they can do greater things in the world. The happier we are as a society, as a whole, the stronger the world becomes and the more good things that will happen. I believe we all have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others and sometimes that just means flashing a smile.
I would like to know from you, what subjects, what exemplary women, gurus, teachers, mothers, etc. you would like to hear from. What questions do you have about life in general and where do you think we women as a group should be focusing our energy? Do you have an hour a week to spare to speak with or listen to an expert on different topics from the comfort of your own home? Would you be open to hearing from men as well that might have some insight from the other side of the argument?
Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think. I can’t wait to get this going. There’s so many wonderful people out there that I believe can make a difference in our lives in just one hour.
This film is very near and dear to my heart. A very good friend of mine (and one of my “soul siblings”) wrote, produced and directed this absolutely beautiful film and I’ve wanted to help him in every way I can to help so many others. ”3 Magic Words” is one of the greatest documentaries I’ve seen in a long time and I’m proud to say that Michael Perlin, the filmmaker, just scored a sweet deal that most indie filmmakers will never get. That being said, the film still needs the word spread. The film is being released all over North America on March 6th and I hope you’ll think about picking up a copy and not just to support him, but to enlighten and grow yourself as well. Here is the information on the film:
“3 Magic Words”, a Documentary/Drama that explores the metaphysical realms of life on planet Earth and weaves together a tapestry of new age thought, philosophy, quantum physics, cosmology, geometry, ancient mystical teachings and a new discovery about consciousness that could change the way we currently perceive our lives and the world around us.
Is there an ancient wisdom about the energetic connection humans have with all matter on the Earth and in the entire Universe? The scientific point of view assumes that energy is simply just energy without any intelligence whatsoever. The spiritual point of view is that all energy is imprinted with consciousness. The movie takes you on a magical trip into consciousness at both the microcosmic and macrocosmic levels as it taps you into a communion with the very fabric of the energy within all things.
“3 Magic Words”, is a film that combines documentary-style interviews, computer-animated graphics, and a narrative that addresses life’s biggest questions; “Who am I?” “Why am I here?” The featured guests range from best-selling authors to spiritual leaders, and even some child prodigies. The guests include; Neale Donald Walsch, (#1 New York Times best-selling author, Ishmael Tetteh (Spiritual Leader of Ghana), Debbie Ford (#1 New York Times best-selling author), Gary Renard (#1 New York Times best-selling author), Nassim Haramein (Theoretical Physicist), Dr. Zhi Gang Sha (Spiritual Healer), and many more.
“3 Magic Words” appeals to both children and adults, as it is presented in a very simple, easy to understand format using a creative combination of animation, music, special effects and famous quotes by the great philosophers and spiritual leaders of our time, including; Ernest Holmes, Plato, Gandhi, Buddha, Moses, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Jesus, and many more.
The film’s message is intended to inspire, and enlighten the human spirit to encourage greater participation in spiritual, environmental and universal issues. The timing of this film is most opportune given the current success of the recent “self-help” docu-dramas; “What The Bleep Do we know?” and “The Secret”. “3 Magic Words” can help pave the way for more enlightening independent projects that advance important messages for the education and spiritual empowerment of humanity. Hollywood is now actively embracing and promoting New-Age themes. Many independent films are now being released that help people live happier lives. There is a new trend that is taking off in the genre of docu-dramas and in the future it is very likely that we will be seeing more inspirational films coming from the major studios and television networks. Timing and fate seem to rest on the side of films about personal transformation and human potential as expressed in “3 Magic Words”. The Golden Age of Aquarius is here and it is time to prepare for a new era in consciousness. This film is a transformational experience and can change your life and your view of the world. In March, “3 Magic Words” will be available on Earth in DVD and VOD format. Look for it on Netflix, Amazon, Itunes, and many more.
I discovered this song today shortly after I had a rather profound experience and now I am absolutely fascinated with it so I felt like I must share it with you. Awesome sauce.
Feels like a dream
So unreal
Feels like a dream
So unreal
Wanna fly me up to another place
Give me a one-way ticket and keep the change
Get me out
Set me free from here
Love will never die they say
The truth is kept in a secret place
So can you show me where to go from here
Come take me away
Higher, Higher
Come take me away
Higher, Higher
Come take me away
Higher, from here
Feels like a dream
So unreal
Feels like a dream
So unreal
Come take me away
Higher, Higher
Come take me away
Higher, Higher
Once in awhile I have a dream that is so vivid it’s hard to shake. When I wake up it haunts me all day. The other day I had one, a good one, but still hard to shake nonetheless. When I saw this this morning I almost passed out! It’s exactly the house that was in my dream! In the dream I was a few years older, I had just gotten out of the water and was a bit cold wrapped in a large towel, sitting on a chair outside. I was curled up in the chair with my knees up by my chest and someone came out and put their hand on my back. I got a warm chill, you know what I’m talking about, and felt relaxed. After that, there were small clips of me doing things in that house the rest of that night. I remember as I was lying down in the bed I could smell something really good and felt completely at peace as I watched out the window and someone had their arm around me, spooning me. Eventually, I woke up and felt so disappointed that I wasn’t there anymore. I kept thinking about it all day and part of the next.
Today, after randomly picking a passage out of a book, it referred to visualizing whatever it is that you desire, using vision boards and other visual aids and believing it will be there. The suggestion continued that you should look at things you want every day and say “yes I can afford that” and so forth. I haven’t been focusing on financial wealth with everything else. I sort of left it to the Universe and the Universe will take care of it. Taking the book’s advice, during some down time I decided to look at property in Phuket just out of curiosity. I saw this after several others and was absolutely shocked! I swear it was as frightening as seeing a ghost unexpectedly! I was so excited though that I had to share it here. I’m sure it will be purchased before it would be my turn with it but wow, amazing!
Let’s see how long it takes me to manifest this or better!
A very unique house in the quiet south of Phuket. Designed with both family in mind as well as areas suitable for use by a home run business.
The property consists of four large, well laid out bedrooms, two of which have en-suite bathrooms. There is a large study area which could also be turned into a fifth bedroom.
The remainder of the house is spread over two open plan floors all looking out to the private pool and Jacuzzi which sits in the centre of the private walled in garden.
I’ve always loved this video and have used it frequently to get my day going!
One of the biggest components of the Law of Attraction is enjoying yourself and finding happiness in any way you can. Find anything that makes you laugh and just get happy. Today, a friend of mine and I did just that by putting together a request of emoticons we thought should be added to the Skype emoticon library. We then asked some other friends that frequently use Skype for suggestions as well and this is the (slightly edited to keep this blog PG-13) letter that went out. We did this for sh*ts and giggles as they say, so please have a laugh where you see fit since some of them are genuine suggestions and others purely for our own amusement.
Dear Skype,
I’ve wanted to write this letter for some time now. As a regular user of your wonderful platform, I have some suggestions that I feel may improve the Skype experience, and wanted to run them by you. There are a few emoticons myself and others believe would make our chat time more pleasurable and entertaining. We understand you may not be able to accomplish all of them in a short amount of time but we certainly hope that you’ll add as many as possible, as soon as possible. Thank you so much in advance.
Vulnerability is a funny thing. Most people see it as a negative state to be in, but it doesn’t have to be that way at all. Vulnerable is defined as:
vulnerable (ˈvʌlnərəb ə l)
— adj
1.
capable of being physically or emotionally wounded or hurt
2.
open to temptation, persuasion, censure, etc
Now even the definition has a way of making it very negative but I have a way of looking at it differently and so do some others. What has to be taken into consideration is that when you’re vulnerable, it’s not just what we perceive to be negative, but also what we would perceive as positive that we are open to at that point in our existence. We’re in a spot where anything is possible.
What this brings to mind is Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche in Berlin. For those unfamiliar with it, there is some background to understand. The church itself was a magnificent landmark in that was completed in 1891 and consecrated in 1895. It was designed to hold up to 2,000 people at any given time. In 1943 it was almost completely destroyed by a bomb during an air raid. Much of it was burned and the rest was rubble. Certainly, many would have thought to just clear the space and all the debris and leave it for something else later, however, the people of Germany took what was left and rebuilt it during the 1960′s using new materials along with much of the original debris and created what could be considered by some as more beautiful landmark in its place that still serves a wonderful purpose. That memorial now means much more to the people of Germany and hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. It was vulnerable, it was destroyed which may have been perceived as bad, however, after it was rebuilt, it was just as strong if not stronger than before and is still beautiful and now serves an even higher purpose.
When our lives are what we perceive to be vulnerable or destroyed, we have a choice to rebuild or not, but by picking up those beautiful pieces left over out of the rubble, we can create something stronger and more magnificent. If more people saw it this way they may be more open to vulnerability. That includes saying goodbye, quitting a job that doesn’t feel right for us anymore, leaving a relationship, starting a new venture or just making the leap into anything new that we don’t know enough about. We are making ourselves vulnerable in a way and at times completely deconstructing or completely “destroying” our former life, but in the end, with a bit of personal will, intent and positive energy, we have the ability to create something even more spectacular than before.
Recently, at a Law of Attraction workshop I regularly attend, we discussed unsettled moments in life. Those moments where we are perceiving something as ‘bad’ or ‘negative’ and have to take a mental time out and cry it out or hit a pillow or something of that nature. We all have unsettled moments in our life because no matter how positive we are and how much we practice creative visualization and manifesting our desires, we cannot keep everyone and everything permanent as a fixture. Pets and people die and that is out of our control. Natural disasters occur which is also beyond our control. If we’re focused on our well being prior and during these events and believe that the best will come of it, then it will, and that is how those inspiring stories of renewal and personal growth come from.
To try to put it into other terms, think of how a seed begins. The hull of the seed is the strong protection for the potential inside. When we plant a seed, that hull has to break apart and release in order for the beauty of what is to come to be able to bloom. Whether it’s a flower or a tree, there is beauty to be had in every single seed and like those seeds, we have a hull of bad habits, unhealthy life patterns, maybe even oppressive relationships, addictions or simple excuses, making what’s inside vulnerable, until something beautiful can blossom from it. Sometimes it’s as simple as a relationship that simply isn’t inspiring anymore, that doesn’t motivate us to better ourselves or a friendship that places us in a position where we feel censored to be ourselves. It doesn’t have to be anything drastic for it to be something that no longer serves us as a growing soul. When we start to blossom into this new beautiful creation, the parts of our spiritual hull that are left will either prevent that part of us from ever fully blossoming or we simply decide to push it off. It’s your choice.
We are all vulnerable at all times. In spite of what false senses of security people wrap themselves up in, a meteor could come out of the sky at any point in time, the love of your life could be killed in a minute, your home could be destroyed in a fire, our money lost in the stock market or any other number of things could be taken from us in an instance taking away our sense of security quicker than a flash and all we’re left with only our self. If our self is in a position of being willing to allow vulnerability, sometimes even manifesting it into our lives, we then have a much stronger sense of peace around us during those times, allowing us to be more creative in our visualization and manifestation.
Vulnerability should never be feared. The fear of it is one of the many things that was programmed into us among many other rules our ‘teachers’ tried to push on us. You are an individual and no individual can comfortably fit into a box with billions of others under one set of rules. Spread your wings, take off and see where the flight takes you. Yes you’re vulnerable, but in that vulnerability anything, and I do mean anything, can happen!
Since YouTube is being a bit snippy right now, feel free to just click this link and listen to this song while you read this hit repeat if you must. It’s a good song and it’s the mood I’m in right now.
Let this explain the philosophy I have at the moment. I am a honey badger. Right now at this point in time, I don’t give a shit LOL but read on after this video…
And then of course here is the original video that it refers to…
And finally, something I’ve listened to repeatedly…
Life In A Day… ahhh. Some of you may have seen this documentary and those of you who haven’t, definitely should, but wow. It seemed to come out right when I needed to see it. When I was questioning everything and didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do because I had a few options. There were so many things I was questioning and so many options right there before me. I had a lot to think about and this documentary brought me a lot of clarity in what my path was going to be. It might seem like an unlikely thing for most people to say but really, it’s when it was reaffirmed in me that what I really wanted to do was see the world and experience all of this first hand.
The film is just so beautiful and leave it to me to find something I love and find out later that Ridley Scott had something to do with it, but there we go again. So if you haven’t already pulled it up on your on demand, let me tell you what it is. Simply put, it’s a compilation of videos made by people all over the world on July 24, 2010. It spans everything from the birth and death of people and animals to celebrations, accomplishments, events, etc. What is really amazing is that there are billions of people on this Earth, most of them just stuck in their own little bubble forgetting the bigger picture, and this really takes you out there and pops that bubble and says “LOOK AT WHAT’S GOING ON!!” There’s so much beauty and sadness all at once. So many things to be exhilarated by and so many others that need to be fixed. So much to see, so much to do… why are we just wasting away on our couches? Money? Money is abundant. You just have to be smart about it. Time? Time is infinite but you have to do the most with each lifetime. Children? Don’t you think kids should see the world too and get that perspective early on? I do! A relationship? I believe our relationships should push us and challenge us, not hold us back and not tie us down.
If you have dreams, goals or just desires, and you’re not following them because of excuses you’ve made for yourself, its time to get out of that rut. It doesn’t matter how old or young you are, it doesn’t matter what society tells you that you are obligated with, it doesn’t matter what the rules are! Visualize what you want, know it’s going to happen and then get to work! Five minutes a day towards your goal is more than most people will ever put to theirs so what are YOU waiting for? Do it!
There you have it. I am so tempted to rant for a bit but when I get on those rabbit trails, I think I lose people’s interest. Haha! Either way, this is where I brag and say that I have to write my lawyer in regards to the script contract negotiations and then hit up the producer for the commercials I’m directing later this month Total snob, right?
Well in closing, this video seemed appropriate considering the topic at hand and the documentary mentioned. Now, go meditate!
