Fright Nights: Special Viscera Screening Including ‘Box’

SPECIAL GUESTS:

Kelly Stewart is a local film writer in Toronto who has written reviews, articles and interviews for such publications as Fangoria Magazine and Toronto Film Scene and has hosted event all over the city including the Bloor Cinema, Carlton Cinema and the Projection Booth.

Lianne Spiderbaby is a contributing writer to Fangoria Magazine, Famous Monsters of Filmland and is the host of the popular web series FRIGHT BYTES. She currently working on her first book, “Grindhouse Girls: Cinema’s Hardest Working Women”, about exploitation and horror actresses.

Jovanka Vuckovic is the former editor of RUE MORGUE (2003-2009) magazine, a contributing writer to REVOLVER magazine, author of the book “Zombies! An Illustrated History” of the Undead and has completed her first short film THE CAPTURED BIRD that will be released later this year.

Karen Lam is a producer, screenwriter and director based in Vancouver, Canada. Her film DOLL PARTS is featured in Viscera this year and her feature film STAINED will be presented earlier this evening at 6pm.

DETAILS:

This marks the first appearance of the Viscera Film Festival in Toronto with a program short films from respected female filmmakers from around the world.

The Viscera Film Festival has been a yearly event for the last three years that showcases the fearsome creations of female filmmakers from all over the world. Viscera is a non profit organization committed to expanding opportunities for contemporary female horror filmmakers and educating the public by raising awareness of the changing roles for women in the film industry.

ABOUT FRIGHT NIGHTS

Fright Nights is the premiere local monthly showcase focusing on horror films by new emerging filmmakers. Most recently the event has showcased world premieres of THE DEVIL WALKS AMONG YOU, FAMILIAR and the theatrical Toronto premiere of the cult classic BATTLE ROYALE. The Projection Booth theatre along with the Fright Nights series was listed in in The Grid magazine as one of “Toronto’s Top Ten Movie Moments of 2011″ (Adam Nayman – Dec 28/11)

Since opening its doors in the summer of 2011 The Projection Booth (formerly the Gerrard Cinema) has become one of Toronto’s most respected cinemas focussing on independent cinema.
